Privacy Policy

Effective July 15, 2026

This policy explains how Venation ("Venation," "we," "us") handles personal information when you use our websites, applications, cloud sync, sharing, and related services. Venation is operated by an individual developer and is the controller of the information described here, except where a provider such as Paddle acts as an independent controller.

1. Information we process

CategoryExamples and purpose
Account and profileEmail address, first and last name, phone number, password authentication records, verification status, account dates, plan and storage usage. We use these to create and secure your account, identify you, provide support, and enforce plan limits.
Age eligibilityYour date of birth is submitted only to confirm that you are at least 14. Venation does not write the birth date to your account profile or content database after this check.
Your contentLeaves, notes, text, tables, tags, relationships, attachments, images, version history, trash, public notes, and settings. We process this content to store, synchronize, search, restore, share, publish, print, and export it as you direct.
Sharing and collaborationFriend requests, collaborators, permissions, shared copies, display name, email address, presence and recent activity needed to show live collaboration and manage access.
Devices and service activityApp-generated device identifier, device name, platform, registration and last-seen dates, network and security logs, browser or app information, and error information. We use these for device limits, security, reliability, and troubleshooting.
BillingPlan, billing interval and status, Paddle customer, transaction and subscription identifiers, renewal dates, and billing events. Paddle collects and processes payment method, billing address, tax, and transaction information. Venation does not store full card details.
Communications and choicesSupport messages and optional promotional-email consent, including when and where consent was granted or withdrawn. Service emails such as verification, security, billing, and password-reset messages are not promotional.

2. Why we use information

We use information to perform our contract with you by operating Venation, syncing and protecting content, enabling sharing, providing purchases, and responding to requests. We also use information to comply with law and billing obligations; to protect users and the service against fraud, abuse, and security threats; and, where required, based on your consent. You may withdraw promotional-email consent at any time in account settings.

3. When information is disclosed

We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. We disclose information only as needed:

4. International processing

Venation is available globally. Google, Firebase, Paddle, and their subprocessors may process information in the United States, Republic of Korea, European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or other countries where they operate. These countries may have different data-protection laws. We rely on provider contracts, recognised transfer mechanisms, and other safeguards required by applicable law. Firebase Authentication is a global service that processes authentication data in the United States; other Firebase services may process data on global infrastructure or in configured service regions.

5. Retention and deletion

We keep account information and active content while your account is open. Version history and deleted-item retention depend on your plan. Temporary collaboration presence expires or becomes inactive shortly after use. Billing, consent, security, and transaction records may be retained as needed for legal obligations, dispute handling, fraud prevention, and audit records.

You can delete content in Venation and can request or use account deletion from supported app settings. A paid subscription must first be cancelled. Account deletion removes authentication, profile, owned cloud content, files, public notes, directory entries, and sharing records under our control, subject to legally required backups or retained billing records. Content another user independently created or retained is not part of your account deletion.

6. Security

We use access-control rules, verified accounts, HTTPS, provider encryption, restricted service access, and operational safeguards appropriate to the service. No system is completely secure, so keep independent exports of critical content and contact us if you suspect unauthorized access.

7. Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may request access, correction, deletion, portability, restriction, or objection; withdraw consent; and complain to your local data-protection authority. You may manage profile information and marketing consent in account settings and export your notes as a .venation file. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request.

Residents of the Republic of Korea may exercise rights available under the Personal Information Protection Act. Residents of the EEA or UK may also object to or restrict certain processing and lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. California residents may request information about categories collected, correction, or deletion; Venation does not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioural advertising.

8. Children

Venation is not directed to children under 14, and account creation is blocked when the submitted birth date indicates an age below 14. If you believe a child provided personal information contrary to this policy, contact us so we can investigate and delete it.

9. Changes and contact

We may update this policy as the service, providers, or law changes. Material changes will be communicated through the service or by email when appropriate. For privacy requests, questions, or complaints, contact the Venation Privacy Contact at services@zelumos.com or use Venation Support.
